Born in 1937, Sir Ron Brierley grew up in the Wellington suburb of Island Bay. His early interest in the stock market quickly turned into a life-long passion. Founder of Brierley Investments (BIL), Sir Ron presided over a number of high profile take over bids during the 1970’s and 1980’s which made thousands of New Zealand investors wealthy. Through the life of one man, The Boy from Island Bay shows the enormous changes that occurred in New Zealand’s business environment.

"The Boy from Island Bay" screened as part of the TVOne Festival Documentary series on January 5. It drew the biggest audience of the series and has been warmly received by critics.
